As part of his ongoing charity work, 2010 Manning Point Fishing Classic Champion, Mangrove Mike, has taken 2013 Rookie, Groper Griffo, under his wing for some mentoring in the twin arts.

Groper, using the excuse of "it's my wedding", has taken Mangrove and his family to the beautiful waters of Fiji for some serious study.

The 2013 Manning Point Fishing Classic started in beautiful conditions on Friday. Mangrove, Fishin and Ganghook were on the water early and were reward with a good haul that was consistent throughout the day. Groper even had his team mate Kneptune catching fish so by the end of the day there was a big feed of fish.

Never knew ASADA had jurisdiction over MPFC - most competitors will now be worried.

The MPFC is bigger than the ASDA and the Australian Cricket Board, especially if you don't get your homework done on time.

Officials concerned by the lack of blogs for this years event have begun analysis of MPFC classics going back over a hundred years.

The weather bureau is warning tropical cyclone Plankton could bring heavy rain as it approaches the South Eastern hamlet of Manning Point in New South Wales.

The system is continuing to strengthen but the Bureau of Meteorology says heavy rain could cause flooding in low lying areas.

By studying various facts and figures from previous MPFC events, leading statisticians have concluded that by the year 2050 the classic fishing and drinking showcase will be attacking:

  • More than 173 competitors
  • Approximately 5.3 vessels

Arghhh, The weather has not been kind to the efforts of HMAS Pandora if the world was coming to an end and we needed a vessel it could be done...but It wont at this stage....It has progressed though
