Day One Wrap

Date:
By Ronny Reuters OBE (MP)
Day One Wrap up Catfish Col was up very early this morning. He arrived at Manning Point well before the late night revellers were revived by the Manning Point First Aid Service (MPFAS).
The first morning session was uneventful, except for the suspected sabortage on Fishing Phils boat were a poorly executed scuttling of Fish 'n' Fil . The Captain Bluering had the bilging in hand and all was well by the time the fishers set off.

Team Blue caught a couple of flatheads which contributed them to taking out the first round. Manning Point Marina and Restaurant (www.manningpointmarina.com.au) was officially opened by Marcus Copperi with a fabulous bacon and egg morning tea. (many thanks Di ).
The lunch time meal was not so good at the Harrington Hotel (yet again) because they had double booked the MPFC with the Harrington Grannies Benevolence Society and we couldn't sit outside. The RSL now has an inside running for the Saturday lunch catering arrangement for next years classic (rumoured to be held in Mexico).

The afternoon session was very exciting with Mangrove Mike hooking onto a prehistoric species (maybe a barking dog puffer fish) that may well prove to be the winning fish. Team Green hooked a variety of 'legal' fish including some whiting, flounder and flatties. Team Blue can "plenty of fish but ... they were too friggin small".

Catfish went swimming with the dolphins and he was tuna friendly.

Later we had a BBQ (surf and turf) with the fish we caught and last night's meat tray raffle.

The evening ended in great mirth while your intrepid reporter was filing this report.
