The Board of Control of Fishing in India (BCFI) has today released a statement condeming the coordinators and competitors of the 2008 Manning Point Fishing Classic.

Without producing any direct reason for their attack on the internationally acclaimed event it is believed to be linked to a fish caught by Mangrove Mike during the 2007 classic.

Their vitriol laced press release was full of pompous rhetoric. The BCFI is outraged that their sacred Cowfish was targeted and dismayed at the arrogance of the angler in proclaiming the catch in such a public forum.

Already the sole Indian competitor - Mandeep Monkeenuts - has withdrawn from the 2008 Competition, and it is believed that if an apology is not presented and an immediate ban on Cowfishing introduced that the entire Indian flotilla will pack up and go home.

A atmosphere of extreme ambivelence has descended over the head quarters of the MPFC and high level officials were heard to mutter "Just let the bastards go home".

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
