Day One started with with overcast conditions and the teams ready to attach the estuaries of the Manning River.

Big Jig picked up an early whiting but the news wasn't so good for Team White. A boating malfunction meant that the competitors had to fish from the baths for the first half of the day. But this turned to a great advantage when

Day 0 was thre practice and research round of the 2006 Manning Point Fishing Classic.

All catches count towards the individual awards but not the team awards. Good catches were made by Big Jig and Mangrove Mike, each with nice flatheads. Fishing Phil caught a nice bream, but the catch of the day was a great flathead by the reigning champion

After commitments with the Commonwealth Games Cousteau is excited and heading up the coast in his beloved Calypso. After years spend conserving sea life he's just looking forward to kicking back and killing some of the little buggers, he's also looking forward to trying beer for the first time he's heard its quite good.... more

Competitors in the '06 MPFC are considering striking unless Marcus Copperi approves a public blogometer.

In a meeting held last night at an undisclosed location at Manning Point Bowlo involving all competitors decided in principle to strike unless the organisers of the MPFC official website release details of the current Blog to Grog ratio.
